this was originally a bluish painting, with a lot of texture. the longer i thought about the more i thought it looked more like a background than a finished painting. so i had another couple goes at it, adding different colors, using palette knives and my fingers and generally piling paint on to enhance the texture.
i think it's much more than a background now!
