this one was inspired by U2's song One.

this song has brought me sorry, joy, pain, spiritual, and just a really fucking good song, music & lyrics!

i cried while i painted it.

while i painted (i had a prepared canvas that i'd was going to use for something else and then it ended up just sitting around), listening to the song, i thought that the best way to express my feelings was to make sort of a play on words and so it's also called "one" because it's monochromatic. it's quite literally monochrome. i didn't know how to start, so as i was listening i put a big pile of one of my very favorite colors--cerulean blue. i decided i was going to take on the challenge with painting this entire canvas with that pile of paint and one small brush (and a bit of water) and make and expressive painting. i spent a looooong time on it and stopped and started etc.

i feel pretty nervous about this painting. i don't know if it was a dumb idea or that i didn't execute it well....
