pan pastels on grey velour paper.
most people haven't tried pan pastels. i discovered them while looking through an art supply site and i'd been working almost exclusively in pastels then, couple of years ago, both chalk and oil, and this new kind of pastel was very exciting. they are dry and like powder or eye shadow. they give you a bunch of little sponges to wipe the powder from the pan onto the paper. wow are there a lot of kinds of really cool paper for them!
it's much more like painting than using other pastels. i use all sorts of different things to use them--toothbrushes, q-tips (cotton buds), eye shadow applicators, natural and manufactured, palette knives, and even things like a kid's art set goofy tools, and fingers of course!
it's incredibly messy but like nothing else i've ever tried.

Well done!
hey, thanks for the watch!
I'm not that much into abstract, but I like this one, it looks like some magical sparks to me
However, this is an amazing artwork!! Love the colors and it looks like a comet rain to me (but upside down)
I love how this looks like a sort of spray/splatter...like a rainbow blood splatter...you didn't kill a unicorn right?
Seriously though, really awesome!
totally, mess is awesome!
maybe i killed a unicorn in my dreams...
and that what what inspired me.
har har! i love using pan pastels!
